There have been growing audiences watching the coverage of some of the greatest tournaments around the world, with sophisticated television coverage, editing and commentators. But, there is no comparison to the biggest live poker tournament of the year, the Wold Series Main Event. The winner in 2011 was Jonathan Duhamel, and he has admitted his greatest dream has come true.
Duhamel, of Boucherville, Quebec Canada has been around and a visible competitor for several years. But this win brings him more than any other tournament can offer. The WSOP Main Event win brought him $8,944,310 in cash, the famous gold bracelet, and fame and notoriety. Duhamel joins poker greats in this coveted group of winners such as Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson and Chris Moneymaker.
Since winning, Duhamel has said,”It’s a dream come true.” Duhamel’s worked hard and played aggressivley to get to the final table. He had won $40,000 in the No-Limit Hold’em events at the Rio Hotel & Casino in June through July. Enough to put up the $10,000 buy-in along with 7,318 players. He continued to play like a star. “I want to be playing the biggest tournaments in the world,” he continued, “I’m going to do my best to pull off another big score.”
