PPA Increase Their Governing Strength

There were quite a few Republican wins in Congress this past week which made the internet gambling community a little shaky. The Republicans are much less likely to pass any federal online poker bill in the next two years and this has the Poker Players Alliance working double time to build their supporters.
The PPA has been pushing hard for federal legislation support and left the state levels alone. The Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association(iMEGA) seemed to have picked up the state slack left by the PPA. Both organizations are seeing positive progress on the support levels.
The PPA has noticed the impact the iMEGA is having at the state level and is picking up the pace as well. They noticed that the new elected officials in the state level won’t play such a burden on getting the bills passed as they’d hoped. John Pappas, the executive director of the PPA, recognizes that if poker starts to be licensed and regulated on a federal level it will still be up to the state battles to decide which of these states will be included in the regulation.
So far, they have seen some great positive progress by New Jersey, California, and Florida. Each of these are interested in moving forward with online poker legislation. They all see the financial incentive of regulating and licensing internet poker. It’s also apparent that the state level politicians are the ones who can have the major impact on the outcome.
Pappas has said that the Poker Players Association will keep its focus on the federal level, but won’t let the state departments out of their sight. Pappas claims that the PPA will get behind a state proposal in the near future.
