Top player Tom ‘durrr’ Dwan met head to head with Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates in an online poker match phenomenon. The players battled for an intense two and a half hour session with 1.047 hands played. The players ended closely matched with Tom Dwan slightly ahead with 18,000 profit.
Dwan has been behind Cates by over $550,000 so he still has quite a ways to go. Cates was in control against the more aggressive play of Dwan with over half of the match still to be played.
The players are spreading the action over four tables of $200/$400 No Limit Holdem. The rules state the loser will have to pay out the winner a predetermined sum of money. This is in addition to their losses at the end of the match. So both of these high-stakes players have a lot on the line.
The match is known as the ‘Durrrr Challenge,’ and Dwan laid odds before beginning of 3-1. So if he loses, Chase must pay out $150,000, while if Chase wins Dwan is passing over $1,500,000.
