Dan Harrington and Erik Siedel will be joining the prestigious club of the Poker Hall of Fame for the 2010 class. The two legends were chosen from a list of 10 nominees that all deserved credit. Living members of the current Poker Hall of Fame and 17 members of the gambling media chose the inductees.
Dan Harrington is a Main Event winner of the World Series of Poker tournament in 1995 and has two bracelets to back it up. He is also a well known author of the influential power book “Harrington on Hold’em”. Spectators of poker will be most familiar with Harrington, also known as “Action Dan”, from his finishing 3rd in 2003 and 4th in 2004 right after the poker boom.
Erik Siedel is a proud owner of 8 WSOP bracelets and WPT championship title. Through his vigorous career, he has been rewarded with more than $10 million of winnings from poker tournaments. Siedel’s play style is known around the world and is well deserving of a Hall of Fame position.
There was some controversy from professor Howard Lederer who has been blogging about the Hall of Fame nominations for over a year. Lederer brings up the point that the best player in the game, Phil Ivey, should be considered, but is not due to his age. Even so, both the inductees are worthy of the hall of fame and are both well respected in the sport.
The induction ceremony for the Poker Hall of Fame will begin on November 7th as a part of the current WSOP main event festivities. Both Siedel and Harrington highly deserve their positions and both look forward to the honor of being consider on par with past poker greats.
