Military Charities are Having Money Raised through Patriot Poker Players Playing Games

Tom Dwan, Annie Duke, Phil Hellmuth, and Huck Seed went out on the USO Tour, and they became the first poker players to visit troops that are in the Middle East on a trip that was arranged by the Poker Players Alliance. Since poker and the military have joined hands, they are now going to use poker to gain awareness from civilians everywhere for charitable causes. For this, they have created the Patriot Poker Players Group or 3P group.

The leaders in this group are not just poker players, but they are actually military soldiers that take time away from their busy schedules in order to raise money and awareness for those charities that they sponsor. Players throughout the world are welcome to come and play for the charity money. 10 percent of their earnings go to a charity within 3P’s network. They are committed to this group, and hope that other people will be as well.

Three men, Todd Fuerst, Matt Mason, and Tim Montjoy came up with the group idea. They spend their R&R vacation from their deployment to Afghanistan to play in the Heartland Poker Tour. This was a poker tour that aimed at raising money for a charity. The idea was something that they liked, and decided that there should be an official group for this sort of thing. They formed a whole group of military players in order to do just that. There are many players that have joined in on this event, some of them large poker stars.

They wanted to establish a solid team, and set out to meet that by promoting everywhere. It was hard at first, just like any new idea or business venture. They stuck to it though, and eventually it stuck with the poker world. Right now the only charities that they are working with are the American Military Family charity and Fueled by the Fallen. Once they become bigger, they hope to add more to the list.
