Some poker players love to check out the statistics behind the plays.  The numbers have been released on some quality statistics from the play in the WSOP.  You can get a good idea of how the play went on from the final November Nine to the final two.

There were 290 hands played in the final table until the heads up match began.  The first elimination happened on Soi Nguyen’s 28th hand.  It was an elimination that most experts didn’t expect to happen so quickly.  The players with the most hands were Joseph Cheong, Jonathan Duhamel, and John Racener – all playing 219 hands total.

The beginning of the game showed diverse player strategies. In the first 14 hands of play, Senti had gone all in four times and proceeded to go all in a total of nine times before his luck ran out.  Mike Mizrachi didn’t play for the first 16 hands.

The heads up match started Monday at 8:00 PM when Jonathon Duhamel found himself with a chip lead of 6 to 1 and effectively used this to take the win.  He quickly played the aggressive style we all expect from this type of chip lead.  He was able to raise four times on the big blind compared to Racener’s zero raises.  Duhamel was also able to play each hand as opposed to Racener playing it safe at times and letting it walk four times in play.

Most of the play, Racener found himself limping on the button while Duhamel was able to strongly raise each time having the big blind.  Racener wasn’t even able to raise until the 30th hand of heads up play.  The heads up only lasted for a total of 43 hands and Duhamel found that early chip lead  helped to build a lead that proved to be insurmountable.
