The World Poker Tour Season 9 has a new look for it’s upcoming season. The show has gone through a production facelift and has a lot of new and improved features.
The show premiers February 13, 2011 on FSN. The previous host, Kimberly Lansing is back as the anchor. The theme music is designed by Tom Hedden, creator of the NFL theme song, and the opening credits have flashy graphics that bring the audience along into urban meccas and the bright lights of big cities. Throughout segments of poker play, Tony Dunst is the ruthless commentator in The Raw Deal. He provides unsensored opinions of the play, the Royal Flush Girls “Show us the money!” and appear as eye candy. Hardcore poker players will be happy there is more overall coverage of each day of play.
The show highlights new players and WPT pros and former champions coming and going and uses sophisticated graphics for stats and leader boards. A four color deck is used where spades are black, hearts are red, diamonds are blue and clubs green. This is popular in online poker play as it helps online players identify flushes.
Pre-game analysis is handled by well kmnow Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten, who offer commentary and opinions of what is to come. The new season is highlighting some new names and VIP tracking. Pros like Phil Helmuth will share his personality and throw digs at his fellow players. New players will offer fresh insights of what they think is tougher play now and provide insights for play at the championship final table.
